Gerhard Stamp (3 June 1920 – 21 May 1998) was a highly decorated major in the ''Luftwaffe'' during World War II, and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Gerhard Stamp joined the ''Bundeswehr'' in 1956 and retired in 1978 as an ''Oberst i.G''. During World War II Stamp was credited with the destruction of of Allied merchant shipping, the British destroyer sunk on 11 July 1941, plus numerous aircraft, tanks and vehicles on the ground. He is further credited with damaging of shipping.
